CLOSED: Beach bird - some kind of skimmer or tern?

Hey,
While visiting my son at Keesler Air Force Base -- Biloxi, Mississippi -- I saw these birds. Are they some kind of tern or skimmer? They have the red and black long bills.

Hi Julie, Yes they are Black Skimmer's. The top beak is shorter than the bottom. Great looking birds!

Great! From the map it looks like they are not found in much of the U.S. It makes me feel lucky to have seen them. Black Skimmer then. Thanks!

Ditto to Black Skimmers. There's also some Laughing Gulls in the second pic.
