Mandarin duck incubation all help appreciated!!!

Gridley, IL

I have 5 Mandarin
duck eggs comming probly next month. From what i have been told so far they are a little trickey to hatch. Please any info you may have would be appreciated.I really want to do right by these eggs and have a great hatch.I have never hatched ducks before as we just started getting them this year.Im tossing around putting them under a broody hen.Any ideas as to weather it would be best to try that or just go ahead and incubate them alone in their own incubator.
Thanks
In advance
Tina

I would use a broody hen. Mine always hatch their own with 99% hatch rate but when I originally got them the lady used a broody hen so she could take the eggs to make them lay more

Have you tried backyardchickens site? They do have a duck forum and several people have mandarins.

Duck eggs are not easy to hatch and if you have not hatched them before, I would go with a brood hen. Eggs also do not ship well, unless they are grown delivery.

Well thats it im putting them with a broody hen when they come.I hope they do ok for shipping i really wanted some of these guys but its really hard to find them around here.I spent alot but not near as much as it would have been for a pair so im crossing my fingers and my stubby lil toes too!I am incubating my 1st duck eggs now but it will be a while yet from what i can tell only about 1/2 apear to be fertile but we have had freezing nights when these were collected from our ducks.I dont even know what these are for sure as we have runners, pekins and rouen's all new to us we have only had them a coupld of weeks.
