Please help me identfy this hawk

Canning, Canada

Hello
I have this pic of a hawk that hit our window while trying to catch it's prey. We live in Nova Scotia, we took the pic to the Department of Lands & Forest. The only thing they could tell me was it could be one of 4 different hawks. I have looked up on the internet and found the closest I cold see was a Cooper's Hawk, if this is a Cooper's Hawk it is rare to have one here in Nova Scotia.
We would like to know what kind of hawk it is as we are in the photography business and will not sell this pic until we know for sure what hawk we have.
Thank you so much for all the help
Kelly

Sharp-shinned Hawk. Note the square-ended tail; Cooper's has a more rounded tail tip.

Agree with Resin, Sharp-shinned Hawk.

It looks a lot like the photo I just posted...unfortunately I don't have a good view of the tail!

I agree with Resin - It's a Sharpie. Tail's not long enough to be a Cooper's. Sharpie's are about the size of a blue jay; Cooper's are larger - crow-sized or so.

Nice shot - they usually don't stay in one place long enough to snap a picture! He must've got his clock cleaned when he hit your window (chasing a bird?). After sitting a while, they'll usually fly off, depriving you of photographs for a good long while.
