Spring is on the way........

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Not only are there little buds everywhere....there are blooms covering our Plum Tree. We think spring and warmer weather are nearly here.

We even saw a huge flock of geese flying high in formation heading north! YEAH!

I saw a large flock of Snow Geese heading north on Friday. We have Hostas showing new growth, yes Spring in almost here.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I have lots of things putting out new growth. My poppies are also starting to show up. It's nice to look out my kitchen window and see some green rather than icky brown.

It is nice to be outside working and to see small signs of life in the garden. I keep poking under the mulch to see if the things I thought had died are still there and most are! Stephanie, what kind of poppies do you grow? Orientals or some other type?

Kenboy---Did the Geese you saw make any noise? The ones we saw were so high up you almost missed them....but you heard them. It was like Doves cooing to music and it seemed to echo. Almost otherworldly....just beautiful.

Cheryl~They're the red ones. I've gotten seeds the past 2 years from Sheila and sprinkled them through the beds. I hope to have more this year than last year.

Yes, I heard them first then spotted them. They were not all that high, low enough to tell they were Snow Geese.

Veronica peduncularis 'Georgia Blue' and phlox subulata are blooming in full sun. Got my first iris bloom today. Buds everywhere. Everything is 3 weeks later than last year, but things are looking good.

I envy you, I have no buds :(

Carolina Jessamine, one Mexican Plum, peach tree and Agarita are all blooming! And I think I heard geese also! Not like cooing, more like a nasal honka, honka, honka!

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Perhaps they sounded the way they did because they were so high. But it was definitely not honking. It was almost musical.

The Red Bud trees are all in bloom and the Dogwood is starting to show some life. I have been working my butt off.........it must be spring..Honestly my favorite time of the year we get to get out and pretty things up. At least its not raining as much and the yard is drying up. I have allready started planting the garden. If I am premature I'll just plant it again. I am dyeing to take the plastic off of the GH but I'll wait another couple of weeks. Oh and the snakes are comming out I allmost stepped on a water mocassin the other day it was the fish mocassin not poisonous but it was a good reminder to look out for copperheads and cottonmouths So beware folks. While your out there digging around.

We have rain in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Ugh! The spring rains have arrived.

Antique rose, what kind of yellow bulbs are those? They don't look like daffs.

They look like pansies to me.

The yellow flowers are the violas planted a while back. The white flowering bulbs are Hyacinthus.
