How well do Silkies do in oppressive humid heat of summer along the coast. Humidity here works like the windchill factor. It may only be 95 degrees but can feel like 110 during the day with 85 degree nights
Silkie Chickens
We're Gulf Coast too, and although I don't have Silkies, a friend does and they do well. In fact all the chickens I've had, even the heavy breeds seem to survive with just a little panting on the worst days.
We are in S. Texas and we have Silkies. They do well summer and winter and this winter we actually had a winter. Silkies are very sweet little things and are very good broodies and mothers.
Thanks for the info. I have been reading all you say about them so have been checking into them. I'm sold lol
