Hi,
What a beautiful flower. I'm always looking for new plants to use and was wondering how you use this one in your planting scheme. Can you just put it in a flower bed along with other flowers and plants or as a border? Might have to try my hand at growing a few of these. Thanks for sharing.

I've been growing winter aconite in my NYC garden for the past 15 years successfully. I originally acquired my plants after they'd finished blooming as a gift from a friend and they set seed and spread in the intervening years. I love it that they regularly appear about the time the snowdrops reach full bloom. Propagating them for me has been easier if I transplant them to other areas after blooming later in the spring, and I now have small colonies in various areas of my gardens. The winter aconite becomes dormant shortly after setting seed and disappears until the following spring They're coming up right now, in early February, and always bring hope and promise of spring with their small, bright yellow flowers. Right now is their moment. When I first received them years ago, the winter aconite of my friend's gift was mixed in with some invasive pilewort/lesser celandine (Ranunculus ficaria) and it's taken me a long time with difficulty to get rid of it, which I have finally succeeded in doing. This was necessary because the pilewort tended to crowd aside the winter aconite, looking somewhat similar, also with yellow flowers, but blooming later.
