All the begonias are going crazy with blooms and usually it is more of the same, pink, pink, pink, with a little white thrown in. Occasionally tho some will catch my eye and I think "wow". Here is B. thiemii, the phot doesn't really do it justice-- but it has a lot of "wow" factor for me.
I think I'm in love!!
Another that has had me saying "wow" all winter is B. convolvulacea--(flowers are a little past their prime)-- those airy sprays really got my attention.
Very nice Hillbilly. It's that time of year again.
I have to pull some of my blooms out of the fluorescent light fixtures. ARGH!
Do either one of you know when Erathophylla (Beefsteak) will bloom?
Mine is blooming now
Dude my beefsteaks are blooming now. I will post pictures when I can. It is hard to do from my iPhone
Oh Boy Butch,
Even in the dead of the winter you can grow beautiful lush plants! I will try"up potting" my plants this year.
Here's a shot of my indoor greenhouse. The big begonia in bloom is a landscape specimen I found in my neighborhood park. I "borrowed" a leaf and this was my first successful leaf rooting from 2 years ago.
Blooms are nice but can they ever create a mess (indoors). Sometimes I am so glad when they are done blooming or never bloom.
Tru, did you ever return your "borrowed" leaf? It looks great - looks like some form of ricinifolia.
Hillbilly, which begonia is that? Looks great and cheery.
Here is one I bought a few weeks ago. The seller has it as 'Star Begonia' for lack of a name. I don't think there is such a thing but whatever - too nice to turn down (for $3 at that).
I would've bought it too--I like named plants since it is easier to trade them, but noid has never stopped me, I got this one at Lowe's a couple weeks ago. The blooms are mostly on a rhizo called "Daisy", with a few B. erythrophylla helix in the back ground. If you look to the left you can see my little orchid(little flower-- BIG plant): Epidendrum "Chinese Red" those blooms have been open for 2 months now--helps me believe in Spring.
