Thanks! I love hibiscus and will continue to collect more. I haven't shown my double red yet, since I had to trim it back hard in order to cover it during the cold snap we just had. But some new blooms are coming up, so stay tuned!
Just gorgeous, Grantman. Thanks for sharing with us. Spring is on its way. Thank Goodness!!
Hugs,
Judy
I'm bumping this up I just bought 2 they are the ones that look like some one braided them I live in Michigan they did not have tags on them and I don't know the name but I wanted to know if I should bring them in this fall and what do I feed them they were $3.81 on sale at Sams Club

Hi Gloria. Check out this link: http://www.hibiscusandmore.com/care.html
As it mentions, try and find fertilizer low in phosphorous and high in potassium, plus trace elements. DO NOT feed your hibiscus any of those "bloom booster" generic fertilizers that proclaim they are good for any flowering plant. They have high phosphorous levels and can be counterproductive to what the hibiscus needs.
thank you Grantman I book marked it for further use !!!1

Hey Grantman,
Did you make your tree? Its great. I have some hibiscus that I would consider making into a tree if it is not too difficult. How do you do it? And is there any particular cultivar that doesn't want to be a tree?
Blupit007 - I bought the tree at Home Depot for a steal! It has two different colored double blooms - pink and red. I didn't make it myself, though I ran across some good information on how to do it yourself. Similar google searches can yield sites such as this one: http://www.freeplants.com/free-article-training-trees-into-shrubs.htm
I believe the concept is to use a shrub that is young and choose a strong leader (central, straight branch) - choose the straightest one you can find, and trim all others to the rootstock, leaving the leaves and branches above that one leader to fill-out. Make sure to prune any branches or suckers that grow from below this main leader, and maintain the shape above to promote growth. Not only will that single "trunk" become thicker and stronger as you divert all of the plant's energy to it, the canopy above it should fill out as you pinch it and encourage fuller growth. Make sure to stake it as it won't be strong enough to support the weight on its own for a while. Good luck!
Thanks, That's very helpfull! I just might give it a try!
