I am obsessed with pink and purple combinations. Light pink and light blue combinations. Dark Blue lobelia with hot pink geraniums. I have been planning ahead and seeing flower beds and pots and I think I have found yet again all pink/purple/blue combinations. What combinations do you use in pots/beds.
Colors I am stuck and need fresh ideas
Last year I grew mostly hot colored zinnias (State Fair) with mixed nasturtiums through a bed of white alyssum as an edging in the front yard. I don't usually like hot colors, but it looked great, and I got a lot of compliments on it. I'm kind of a purple fiend, normally.
I love those colors together. I was kinda thinking other combinations so not every flower bed is that same.
I'm all about the pinky/purple combinations, too. :) I do well with cool yellow and purple (esp. white blooms or grey foliage), or salmon and periwinkle blue, or warm yellow/orange/red.
Green and deep purple/near black.
Lovely arrangements, as always, Tomtom! Good to see you here.
Now, darnit you guys.....
I thought I was going to be happy with a few pots of coleus along with my attempt at veggies. Now you've gone and whetted my appetite for flowers in my favorite colors.
I'm going to go off the deep end if I'm not real careful. Sheesh. Pots, pots, and more pots!
:-)
gilraen - for ideas you can try:

You guys have some great ideas-----pirl thanks for the greenhouse website--i was unfamiliar with that one
They are a very good company and have never disappointed me.
Mischels looks like a really nice site, and I love that they organize by color.
I've got some studying to do! (need variety in blooming dates plus hot weather thriving...)
While I'm not huge on pink myself, my mother-in-law had a variety of verbena in containers that looked outstanding. Over the life of the bloom it changed between a soft pink, coral, and apricot color. The verbena 'lanai peach' looks close to what it was (http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/134509/).
I also love blue edging lobelia (it bloomed from early summer-1st hard frost for me).
Pirl, you grow those in your yard or what?
I love this one: "..and the picture to go with it."
The rest are amazing too, you really have a gift....
always nice pix Pirl
Cleaning??? You gutted it! Um... I'm very much a newbie. Why did you clear almost everything out? Was something wrong with it? I'm confused.
And by the way, thanks again for the link to Mischel's. I just ordered about $175 worth of lantanas to put into a new Bloommaster box planter. I'm hoping for a glorious display.
Definitely going off the deep end, here. Hope it's a soft landing. :-)
The first photo was from last year. Over the winter the plants went dormant and will return shortly. It's what is done in all 29 gardens, some large some small.
After being on DG for 2 years I found I was not planting things close enough in containers.
Now I bunch everything in and the the roots duke it out for themselves
Here's a video from Martha Stewart Living on creating a hanging basket arrangement:

Gilraen - have fun with all those plants! Two of the lantanas I bought last year are now inside blooming. They have great plants and many will be in bloom when your boxes arrive.
I love light pinks with light grey and maroon foliage, im a huge fan of the purple pink combo, cant seem to get away from it. As for the brighter combos i like dark blue and oraange or deep purple with yellow.
nice blues, even in the greens
Very nice!
Pop!
