i read in a newsletter about these bacteria that have a symbiotic relationship with the roots of plants....has anyone tried it?? (michrohizae bacteria)
michrohizael bacteria...anyone tried?
The most common one that people have heard of is Pea and Bean inoculant. Whenever I've moved, I use it on the new garden that has never grown peas and beans before. I haven't ever done a side-by-side test with and without inoculant.
New research is showing that a lot of our native plants and native soils in the arid West are dependent on Mycorrhizae. I guess there is a different Mycorrhizae for each plant - you can't just use a generic one.
It seems like I read that they haven't discovered any for the Broccolli/Crucifer family, and the current theory is that they are the one family of plants that doesn't use them.

There's a lot of research going on lately in the field of microbiology as it relates to crops. They've just figured out which gene switches on the nitrogen fixing ability in legumes.
