All thumbs today

Crestview, FL

I went to put the 2nd wave of tomato startings under the lights today, and I was all thumbs, got the seed starting kit into the spare room, set it on the tv in there, I thought it was stable, it wasn't, it came crashing down dumping and breaking up all my startings....... I used all my seeds too (sniffles). So; tomorrow morning I will be giving tomato growers a call and ordering more, the cherry tomatoes are gone now, the celebrity is gone, the glory, the roma, sigh, in their place I'm ordering celebrity again, Aker's West Virginia, Caspian Pink, Abraham Lincoln and Mountain Bell. This will be my second wave when they get here.

You poor thing! At least you are getting lots of practice and will get to try some different seeds. I am amazed at how completely you have thrown yourself into this.

My daughter is threatening to have me committed. LOL She said I was wasting money on something stupid like growing tomatoes! Little does she know I don't spend that much on seeds, it cost me less to reorder seeds than a night out. I went through 2 huge blocks of coir potting up the ones that are getting huge. The greenhouse goes up tomorrow, and the field trips start tomorrow for the ones I potted up. The rest get potted up with the exception of a very few. More coir arrives tomorrow, and Tuesday or Wednesday my no hole nursery trays will be in which will make it lots easier. Then, just waiting for the other seeds to do it again. I still got about 5 weeks of cold weather ahead so I'm not behind yet. I did get a huge themometer to hang in the greenhouse, will help me make sure the temp is where it should be.

I have a 20 ft X 16 ft space reserved right in the middle of the back yard for my 40 self watering buckets. And have my schematic of where everything will go this Spring. I'm making 4 rows, each on 16 ft long for the 10 buckets per row and 4 rows across. That gives me 1 1/2 ft between each bucket but gives me 3 ft between rows. That should work I hope. Need walking space in between the rows and since they are all the beefsteak type will give 1 1/2 ft of spreading room for the foilage all the way around, hope that is enough room.
