Planting Bulbs Late

West Plains, MO(Zone 6b)

Hello! I have some tulip bulbs and allium bulbs that I didn't get planted in the fall. The tulip bulbs are starting to sprout now. Can I go ahead and plant them in a pot outside, or should I plant them in a pot in the greenhouse? Also, is it too late to plant the alliums outside in the flower beds? I'm in zone 6b, and we are currently having highs in the mid-forties and lows in the mid-thirties right now. Thanks!

I found some bulbs after clening out my potting bench. I planted them in a shallow dish, called a color bowl, here. They are beginning to sprout. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Good luck!

I'm building a country rose garden. I planted one area in the fall and am planting another area this winter/spring. I have allium bulbs that I purchased from Brent & Becky's Bulb in the fall. I want to plant the rest of them now, while I am planting everything else between my roses. If I don't plant the alliums now, I risk harming other nearby plants in the fall. I'm not expecting the allium bulbs to grow and bloom this year. Is there any harm in planting those allium bulbs now?

If the bulbs are not soft, I would say to plant them ASAP...in pots or in the ground. Then if you want to move them later, you can.

Thanks, everyone - I have already planted the tulip bulbs, and now I just need to work up some energy to plant the 100 allium bulbs!
