Spring Migration Questions

Since we've had an extraordinarily hard Winter and record snowfalls this Winter, especially here in the NE, how will those factors affect our Spring migrations?

Hi FOV, I was wondering if the bad weather continues if it will affect the Hummingbird migration because of temps. If there is a lack of insects or fruit bearing on trees/shrubs it might put some migration times back later. Should be interesting how it all works out this year. Hopefully the weather will settle down soon ( I keep saying that anyway ;-) )

Hi again FOV, I don't know if you have seen this link in the hummingbird sticky. It shows how to read weather maps for when conditions are right for birds to migrate.

'H' pressure does make sense. Oh I just found your Hummingbird migration thread and will hop over. It was so enjoyable last year. Thank you, pelletory.

From what I've read, it's thought that day length is the primary trigger to HB migrations. If that is the case weather conditions here won't affect their spring migration.
