February in the garden

Oakland, CA(Zone 9b)

I took a bunch of photos and organized them into three separate slideshows on Photobucket: front yard, side yards, and back yard. I was late having my roses cut back so actually the new growth is about a month behind everybody else in the neighborhood, LOL! But I always think the new dark red tiny leaves are so pretty, especially in the early morning light.

Also, the furthest part of the backyard has been very difficult due to site (sloping, cold, shaded in summer, big trees suck up water) so much of it is still a work in progress. The hardenbergia vine I highlighted is one I love dearly - 'Happy Wanderer' - but whether it will survive in such a shaded spot is yet to be determined...only time will tell.

JK, I truly enjoyed viewing your pics this morning before work, sipping my coffee. What a wonderful way to begin the last of of this month. It is an especially long month in the north.
