I was in Ace Hardware today and had asked for some Perlite which has come in; but was told by one of the guys that Vermulicite would be better for my container gardening? Was is everyone's advice on that? I like to add perlite to my coconut coir that I use in my EBs, GPs and 5 gallon buckets. I usually like to use a 60/40 mixture of coconut coir/perlite, what do you think? Vermulcite or Perlite?

Joy, If you expect rain issues like last year, go with perlite. Vermiculite absorbs water.

Thanks, yep, I'm expecting that again. Here in this part of FL we don't just get 5 mins of rain, it lasts all week in the form of thunderstorms and torrential downpours. The coconut coir absorbs water and holds it it, so was thinking perlite also.
