Dog Too Attached To Owner.

I have a friend that has taken in both a young woman with depression issues and the womans pet dog with loss of owner issues. The young lady has gone into hospital probably for a couple of weeks. The poor dog is beside himself with anxiety. These two poor souls only had each other. The woman is being helped. Have any of you any suggestions for helping the dog.The dog is in a different house than he is used to tho it is a loving careing house.
