I have two three-year old plums that grew two feet of new growth last summer. I used my own compost and they really took off. I know I need to prune but I'm not sure how much. They both have several leaders or whips. I think I need to leave one whip as the central leader and prune at least half the new growth on the others that I decide to leave. Is this the correct way to prune a young plum?
Proper plumtree pruning.
