Love the pictures. That white and black roster is great and really like the ducks

Richmond, TX

Those are some truly beautiful ducks!

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

Oh that Silver laced is Beautiful.....I think I want one....no I think we NEED one...
I love the ducks pen, how is that pond made that is lined with bricks? I think I remember a post about that big one, but not sure about the small one.

Oh and another question, we found 3 duck eggs in a nest the other day under an turned over bathtub with a hole for the ducks and we took them, then today I found two more outside the bath tub, and when I looked in the bathtub, there were leaves in the hole were we took the first eggs... I feel bad now and am afraid they wont lay anymore or maybe sit on them....

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

MissJ they should still lay if they are domestic ducks. I wouldn't take anymore or at least leave 1 or 2. They may move their nest site elsewhere since you have disturbed it twice. Exotic ducks usually only hatch one clutch laying in spring. One of my Ringed Teal is sitting a nest already and saw the other one come out of a box today. It has a big eggs in it so I know it is not hers. They lay tiny eggs. The pond was dug out by hand and concrete formed by hand. They boys went through many bags of concrete Inside measurements is about 16' l x 5 or 6' wide. It has varying depths of 12 to 20" at the deep end. We used PVC pipe and ran a drain line about 15' out from the cage to run into the woods

PP I love my ducks. I have been raising them for 5 yrs now. I am finding out I love my new chickens too

Wren the Seabrights are really cute and very friendly

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

Oh no so I should have not disturbed the nest they made... cause the two I found today were outside the nest.. they were randomly dropped... I wont tough another in that pen unless it is laying out in the open.. of maybe if I find some on the outside should I put them in the nest??

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

couldn't hurt

Live in the city can not have chickens, I just have to enjoy all y'alls

Clarkson, KY

wren- I really think the occasional discreet chicken...

Richmond, TX

Happy to share Wren, but they do have designs for stealth hen houses for your situation...

Clarkson, KY

Then there's the ever popular indoor chicken with diady...

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Richmond, TX

Fun and games!

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

hmmmmmmm was just looking at pic of Americanas and I think Tuffy and her sister are Americanas. I got rooked on those eggs. Lady from Tx. selling on e-bay shows a pic of a White rumpless Roo in her add

Donna, I love your Mandarins! We have a wild duck here my DH calls a wood duck people put boxes up for them here... Is there any relation? They look similar.
Caren

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

yes Caren they are the only relative of the Wood Duck. I used to have a pr of Wood Ducks but gave them away. She was a egg dumper and they just never warmed up to me. I used to get lots of them visit my pond and I have boxes up for them but no takers so far and hardly see any anymore since I moved my Aviary away from the pond

Oh forgot to say this is a view from my front porch

Wood Duck

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

Ok so I go out there and find some Geese eggs the other day, Then today I find them covered up in the grass and the momma I have not seen her sit on them... Should I pull them or let them stay there??

Same with duck eggs there were there in a hole, now they are covered up with grass and leaves...

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

they do that for protection. Leave them. They will sit them when they are through laying

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

Wow Donna, I would love to have that view! Maybe one day I could talk DH into digging me a pond. If this rain keeps up perhaps we wont even have to dig lol!

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

The duck hole still is not covered, but there are 2 more eggs in there... HUMMM they all are driving me crazy, eggs in the house in bator, duck eggs in a hole not covered and 6 goose eggs in a hole covered,,, Oh and eggs in the fridge to eat...

Richmond, TX

Eggs in the fridge are the best kind - no worries. I salute you brave souls who hatch your own; too traumatic for me!

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

LOL Porkpal, I am starting to understand...
Tonight I gandered down at the geese and ducks, and one of the ducks were sitting on the goose eggs and there was another one on top of the pile.. OH I so dont know what to do, it does not seem like they are sitting on the duck eggs, and I dont know if I should pull them or not..

Richmond, TX

Ducks lay a LOT of eggs before they are satisfied to sit stop and on them.
