I'd like to grow some strawberries this year, but nave no clue what to choose. Should I just go get what the local big boxes sell, or is there an advantage to mail ordering? Any favorites for the NC/SC area?
Thanks :)
Strawberry varieties?
We raise Seascape, sold by Indiana Berry Co.

They are every bearing. We bought 100 plants last spring & had hundreds by fall. They gave us berries 40 days or so after we planted them. Then continued right up until killing frost.
I don't think they are fussy on location. They raise them in Florida & California commercially.
We planted them in these "raised beds" to save our backs.

Now that sounds like what I need :)
Thanks for the input, and the link!
dang those beds are sweet...
So are the berries!
We froze quit a few, so I am enjoying them this winter.
only seascape eh?
Well, as usual I jumped the gun *G*. I bought 10 plants of an everbearing variety, and THEN went and read the local (Clemson University) advice. Should have gotten June-bearing for my area. Oh well, I can do one bed of each, and see how it goes. Live and learn....
