Mom's Kringla (a Norwegian cookie)
Also Mrs.Oliver Harklau's "My Favorite Kringla"
in the Orange Church cookbook.
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 stick oleo
1 egg (plus one egg yolk)- I think- either that or just one egg yolk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 c buttermilk
1 tsp soda (add to buttermilk)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
3 1/2 cup flour
Cream sugar, butter. Add eggs and extracts.
Add buttermilk. Then add dry ingredients.
Chill dough and then roll into pencil- then into a figure eight shape on cookie sheet. Working fast so dough doesn't get warm.
400 degrees
for about 8-9 minutes.
Until just barely getting browned.
