How do you Start a African Violet

I would like to know how you start a African Violet?

Do you take a leaf from one and put it in water? Just how do you start one?

Well, you can put it in water and wait for it to root. I am guessing that most people use the method that Critterologist so nicely describes in this DG post: http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/1996/

I find I have better luck rooting in potting mix than with "water babies," although some people find that water-rooted leaves & plantlets make the transition better if you gradually add potting mix to the rooting container (going from water to mud to very wet to normally moist soil as you add more mix).
