Dwarf Citrus supplier in Dallas, TX?

Big Creek, KY

I'd like to get some dwarf citrus trees for my greenhouse. I live in Kentucky and shipping citrus trees from CA or TX tends to be pretty pricey. I'll be traveling to Dallas in April and was wondering if anyone knows of a nursery in the Dallas area where I could buy some dwarf citrus trees.

I am not sure, but I think you are not supposed to take citrus trees over the state line.
Does someone know for sure?

Big Creek, KY

I believe it's okay to take them out of a citrus growing state (TX, CA, etc.) but you can't take them into the state. It's to prevent the introduction of disease into the citrus growing states.

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

You can take them out of Texas, but you can't bring them in. Dwarfs citrus are difficult to find in Texas. The only dwarf nursery I know of is Acorn Springs Farms located in Hallsville, TX slightly east of Dallas, but I just tried their website, www.acornsprings.com, and nothing came up. You might try their phone number: (903) 668 1461

California has a number of dwarf citrus nurseries. One, located in my home town Fremont, is Four Winds Nursery.

Stay away from Florida citrus

Yeah, I looked into Acorn Springs, but from what I read on Garden Watchdog it sounds like they're going out of business.

Caldwell Nursery, in Rosenberg down by Houston, sells dwarf citrus, but I don't know from whom they purchase their trees. Maybe they will give you the name of their supplier. I find it difficult to believe that there isn't a market for dwarf citrus here in Texas. I've live here for 8-1/2 years and still consider it a fortuitous find if I spot one.

Try Sunshine Miniature Trees in Dallas on Greenville Avenue (http://www.sunshinebonsai.com/; phone: 214-691-0127). I bought a dwarf orange tree there years ago.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

what was the cost of the tree if you remember sandy? and how big was it?

Big Creek, KY

Thanks sandyet - I'll give them a call.

The tree was about 4 feet. I *think* it cost between $40 to $60. It was a few years ago.
