CLOSED: The jury is somewhat hung - Blue Grey GnatCatcher?

Harrisburg, PA(Zone 7a)

Posted this in the BirdWatching forum and it was suggested I post here for additional input. I'm very, very new at this and thought it was some sort of sparrow. Boy, was I wrong. I'm going to post a second view following. Thanks everyone.

I would agree with Blue Grey Gnatcatcher

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Changing my mind to Mockingbird after seeing the second pic!

If you thought it was some sort of sparrow it is much smaller than a mockingbird. Head/body shapes are not right for a mockingbird, either. I vote for blue-gray gnatcatcher. I have seen them here in central Kentucky, not far from your location as the crow (or gnatcatcher) flies.

Mockingbird

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I have seen both birds where I live and Mockingbird gets my vote.

Sure I'll chime in with my two cents. Here's the pic from the Cornell site on Mockingbirds. http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Northern_Mockingbird/id

That pic shows a black stripe from the eye to the beak. They are also listed as a medium size bird. The ones I get are a bit bigger than a Cardinal. I have seen a Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher only once but when it caught my eye it seemed about the size of the Goldfinches I get. Here's the link to the Cornell ID site for B-G G:

it's described as a "tiny" bird. So the size should clinch it. Hard to tell size from your pic when there's nothing to scale it to.

also Blue-Grey Gnatcatcher isn't supposed to have any wingbars....looks like your bird does.

sorry...one more thing....if you go down to the bottom of the page for Northern Mockingbird you can get side by side pics of it and a blue-grey gnatcatcher....okay I'm done now!!!

My vote is Mockingbird from the shape of the beak.

Downingtown, PA(Zone 6b)

It's a Northern Mockingbird.

Below is a picture from my Audobon calendar of a Northern Mockingbird at a similar angle as a reference
