At first I thought I had a Sharp-shinned Hawk. It was back lite and had to lighten it to see identification features. It has been brought to my attention, that maybe it might be a Merlin. I would like your input on the ID, if the picture is showing enough detail, for ID.
Anybody can tell me which Hawk?
Merlin is not impossible, but I reckon this realistically has to be left as unidentifiable - not enough detail visible. Sorry!

Darn! I was hoping for a Merlin...sorry Burn..next time though ;)
Thanks Resin, I thought maybe, that was the reason you didn't say anything, on the bird forum.
Well Burd if ever it comes back, I'll have to figure out, which setting would be best for a back lite bird photo.;) Sorry you didn't get that answer, we were looking for. I'll go back to the thread, and change it to unknown.
