That is a gorgeous orange!!! Did you get it without a name tag? There are enough orange doubles around that to avoid mislabeling it is best it remains a gorgeous NOID (No ID). Color is something you can't reliably count on on a Brug since many factors influence a particular flush and it can change from flush to flush. Even length of calx can change the appearance of the bloom. Sorry.

Columbia, TN(Zone 7b)

there are very few hybridized plants that can be id once the name tag is gone. Just the way it is sorry :-(

I don't know, but it sure is a beauty!

Beautiful orange and I LOVE IT.

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

That is such a nice orange. Oh how I wish my brugs would bloom in winter.

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

mstish,
Several requirements have to be met for Brugs to bloom in winter:
1.) They have to have formed a "Y" or to have come from above the "Y" on the mother plant.
2.) The ambient temperature has to be above 50ºF.
3.) If they don't get natural sunlight, use grow lights or a combination of warm and cool florescent lights for about 16 hrs.
4.) Fertilize regularly with a complete liquid fertilizer.
5.) Water, but not as much as you would during summer. I let mine get drier than I would normally let them get before I water again.
6.) Raise the humidity level. Normally a house is too dry.
7.) Be on the look out for spider mites. They love drier conditions. The best thing to do is to treat your Brugs with a systemic before you bring them indoors. You may have to re-apply if your winters goes over the recommended effective time period.

You won't get loads of blooms, but enough to make it worth while.

bettydee,
That is very pretty bloom! It looks like it wants to be a double.
Thank you for the advice. I think I will try it next year. Really don't have much to loose since I doubt it will die - just maybe not bloom. lol

It is a double. The second skirt is stuffed inside the first. You can see its tendrils sticking out at the bottom of the first skirt. Then there's that little tutu up at the top.

Mission Viejo, CA(Zone 9b)

I got a cutting from my brother years ago. He says this Brug. is Herrenhauser Garten.

Thank you all for looking!

Congratulations!!! Whatever you are doing , keep it up! Do you have any idea how people have tossed this Brug because it refuses to bloom for them?

Now the question is, what are you doing right? LOL. One other question. Do the branches of your HG develop a corky texture? New branches on my HG look heathy, then when they get about 3' tall they develop that corky look and it appears to be a common occurrence.

Mission Viejo, CA(Zone 9b)

Yes! They seem to bloom more now but they have been planted about five years. They don't bloom as much as some of my others.

Phoenix, AZ

I have had one about 3 yrs. It just sits there :(
All my other Brugs bloom like crazy!

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

I tossed mine two years ago, had it for three and not one bud.

Phoenix, AZ

I think I'll go out and threaten mine ☺

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

If the grasshoppers didn't kill mine I should still have it. Maybe I'll throw it in the ground and see if that makes a difference. Of course, then I would have to keep it from dying down in winter.

Veronica
there is another double Orange, that's easier too grow, it's Langerbusher Garten, I gave my HHG, to the local university
it was over 6ft tall, it kept seeting buds & they would drop off, I had mine for 3 yrs, I love the double orange one's

Thanks for the info Elizabeth. I'll have to look for Langerbusher Garten. Thing is it's getting harder to find nurseries specializing in Brugs. I ordered a few Brugs from World of Brugmansias late last year. "EddieWayne" was one of the owners. I went to the website last night and it had gone poof. I think Alice must be the last one, now.

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

Where can this one be purchased in the USA? I see it is readily available in Europe.

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

I would love to know some reputable places to buy brugs. THese guys are addicting.

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

I've seen it recently on e-bay. Eddiedewayne has some "pick any 3 cuttings" auctions. HG is one of the choices. Just remember HG is very frugstrating because not many have had success getting it to bloom.

mstish,
Eddiedewayne is a reputable seller through e-Bay

gone2seed, sells through his own nursery as well as through the Marketplace here on Dave's. http://countrygdn.com/

Abutilion sells through her nursery http://www.karcheskycanna.com/

gordo sells through e-Bay as arghyagardens

Gary sells as Xeriscape8321 every once in a while

TriFred said he would have his online nursery up by planting time, but the last time I checked SommmerGardens, it wasn't up yet.

There are others on this link:
http://davesgarden.com/products/ps/search.php?search_text=Brugmansia&submit=Search

Just stay away from 7servant7. You never know what you'll get from him.

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

Thanks, but do any of them sell THIS particular Brug?

Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I know Eddiedewayne has this one as a choice under his some of his cutting listings. I was going to get one until I read how difficult they can be. I was tickled pink with my purchase, so much I went back & bought more :)

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

I tried looking up Eddiedewayne on an Ebay search, but could not find any results - can anyone help?

Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Try this:

http://myworld.ebay.com/eddiedewayne/

And then click on items for sale to the left.

HTH!

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

Thank you - I found the items he has for sale, but not this one, plus I would want the 'buy it now' option.

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

I haven't seen him do a "Buy it now" option. If you want HG, you will have to bid for the cuttings. The good news is he has a number of these "Pick any 3". I mentioned it on my 10:07 PM post yesterday.

Mc Call Creek, MS

Betty, that corky stuff on Herrenhauser Garten is just part of HG. It's on all of them and is not a disease.
