Rhubarb recommendation?

Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Could anyone recommend a variety of rhubarb? I'd like to plant some in the garden this spring!

Thanks.

"Valentine" seems to be the most popular. Most nursery catalogs carry it or some local nurseries might also have it. Just don't be in a hurry to harvest it as it normally takes until the third season to really come into fruition. Recommend you use manure in your planting and at least one application each spring. Peace

In late fall I would heap mine with manure and leaves and other compost sort of things. All rotted gone once the leaves were up, and were they ever huge.

Thank you both. I recently saw Valentine for sale in the same catalogue I hope to order strawberries from, so I will give it a try.

Early Spring 2010 issue of "Country Gardens" has a great article on rhubarb including recipes. If ya get a chance read it!
