Cedar Elm

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Anyone know where I can buy a Cedar Elm? I looked at the two vendors listed in Plantfiles, but neither has this available. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Magnolia Garden Nursery is a wholesale nursery that grows cedar elms, but here is a list of retail nurseries that sell their plants.

This retail nursery sells some large ones.

Are you going to ETRU, I can bring you one?

Betty, thanks for those links. They were very helpful.

Ken, thanks for the offer. I'd be tempted to take you up on it, but DH was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer a few months ago. We're in the middle of chemo and other nasty things, so I'm not going to make it to any of the RU's this year. Thank you for the very kind offer though. I do appreciate it. One of these days I'm going to get to an RU.

Crowelli ~ you probably don't have time to get out and shop but I've seen these at Home Depot and Lowes recently.

Pod, thanks for that info. I can get to Lowe's since there's one a few blocks from the house. I'll check there first chance I get.

Without irrigation, cedar elm are very slow growers. On the other hand, once established, they are very drought tolerant. We have a large number of them here on the ranch. In the 9 years we've lived here, they haven't grown much although they are much denser. They are listed as moderate growers. So water and fertilizer make a big difference in their growth rate.
