I am slowly branching out to other sections of DG. Does anyone use either the blog or journal features?

The journal seems a bit too rigid to me, but maybe I'm not figuring it out correctly. I maintain a very simple plant database on my computer as a Word chart, so think I'll just stick to that. If it ain't broke, don't fix it...

I've started using the DG blog as more of what I think of as a journal, just jotting down the general weather and what I get accomplished and/or what is coming out of the ground.

Any suggestions on how to better utilize either of these?
