Last year a woman sent me some "blue onions" bulbs that I planted and had hoped they would develop before fall but they didn't. Does anyone know the correct name for these and where I can get more of them? The only way I can explain them is if anyone ever watched the movie "Holes" two kids survived on them, that is what I had growing. The stems on the onions are a flat med to dark green, long and slender, mine were aprox. 5-6 in long. Hopeing they will come up this spring but have never heard of these before and do not know any history of these at all. They are supposed to be very sweet and they are blue in skin color when ready to harvest. I believe they are a southern variety. Thanks to anyone for help on this.
