My favourite subject--sexing chicks!
I just hatched five RIR chicks and noticed that two were very pale and unmarked, one pale but with faint chipmunk stripes and two darker with marked stripes. The kind of stripes that I tend to associate with partridge or gold-laced chicks. In those colours, the darker the marks, the higher probability that they are females. Good to know.
So I looked up sexing RIR chicks and found this:

I love it too. I wish I could see them!! *hint hint* If only one had a camera.. :(
LOL
Neat! I'll be interested to learn whether your chicks follow the observations in the reprint.
(It is cheating to let them read it.)
Okay, I'll take pics.
Silly, porkpal. They can't read yet.
What? You are the ultimate teacher are you saying you're slacking? Uneducated chickens? What is this world coming to?
Well, they are only a few days old, give her time. - but remember no unfair preparation!
