Your thought that it is an Anna's Hummingbird is correct. Not a Selasphorous, as there is no sign of buff on the bird. And not a Costa's or Black-chinned as this female has some color to her throat. As for the male, he mates with the female and then has no more responsibility for the nest or rearing of the young.
