We've got 25+ chickens coming this week, and in the next month or so, we'll need to build a fenced chicken yard. We're wondering how big it should be. One of our friends has one that's 16X24 for his 12 or less flock, and he said we'd need it much bigger for 25. 11 of the chickens will be bantams. I was thinking if we went 20X30 or so, we'd be good, but really, I have no idea! What do you think?
Chicken Yard Size
Make it as big as you can. It is much easier to maintain if it is underpopulated. Once the chickens eat/scratch up all the vegetation, all you'll have is dust or mud.
