CLOSED: Sharp-shinned or Cooper's?

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

The tail looked squared, so I thought Sharp-shinned, but it was awfully big for a sharp-shinned. What do you think? I took tons of pics, but I'll just post 3.

Here's the only pic I got where you can see the shape of the tail.

Bump :-)

Are all these picture's of the same bird?

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

Yep, same bird. I was trying to get him to fly away. Not that I don't like hawks, but I like them more when they eat other people's birds.

Immature Cooper's Hawk...the tail was a dead give away, however I just wanted to make sure they were all the same bird.

OK, you have to tell me how the tail was a dead give away. When I first saw it, I thought Coopers but then its tail looked square at the bottom which is supposed to be Sharp-shinned -- right? I'm more confused than ever!

BTW, thank you!

Here is a link to a side by side comparison to both the Cooper's and Sharp-shinned Hawk's.

Thanks y'all.

Burd, after I looked at your comparison, I thought OK I get it. Then I went and looked at my photo and was confused again until I went to the photo gallery at the bird count. They had a sharp-shinned and its tail looked exactly like your photo and it finally clicked, really, really, sharply square!
