I just found this thread. How long a period of time are you guys counting - 30 min, 1 hr, what?
Hack
I counted for hours.
On Friday and Monday I usually count at home for like a 6 hour period. On the weekend, I try to visit a few places and do 15 minutes at a time.
Great job everyone. I just counted for four hours yesterday. Today I think I'll go longer.
Hi Guys, Do you know you can count by ear too; as long as your positive of the species sound. I just heard several Canada Geese go over so they are on my list now.
I only did 15 minutes yesterday. Today I counted for 3 and a half hours.
Pelle, Ive never seen Turkey Vulture's in the winter here, I always thought they went south, but the other day a friend of mine seen a deer carcass along the road and swears he seen two Turkey Vulture's sitting on top of it. I thought he had to have seen something else. They have a yearly event in Hinkley, Oh where everyone gather's on a certain date in March not sure which...but they watch for the Buzzards/Turkey Vulture's and if they arrive spring is here.
Our TV's are here all year round.
It was by ear that we were able to add the Pileated...no mistaking THAT call! It was across the road where it hangs out and it was there again today.....thank goodness for that crazy call!
A good day out on the North Northumberland coast today . . .
