I have also thought about getting one goat to go in the field with my two horses. Have been thinking it might help keep down the Johnson grass as well as maybe I can learn to make goat cheese.
Any help with this one?
Will one goat be ok with two horses on 6 acres?
What kind of goat?? Any suggestions?
and...how hard is it to make goat cheese??
thanks!!

Anyone keep goats?
1 goat and 2 horses on 6 acres should be fine if it is established pasture. I think, however, the horses are a better bet for controlling the Johnson grass, goats prefer broadleafs and do not really compete with cattle or horses for the same forage.
We let our goats share space with our horses.I noticed my goats do tend to eat alot of the things the horses dont want.We dont have alot of trees or scurb thos so our goats don't really have the variety of stuff they would love to eat.I have herd that horses will get very attached to a goat as a pasture mate and sometimes its hard to get them to leave the goat or vise versa. We dont have that problem tho as we bought 2 horses that knew each other so we just have to worry bout seperating the 2 horses.
