Ok, been stuck indoors with temps of 30 degrees, bouncing to 50 to fool me and the plants and then back to 30 again. (groan). So; my brain has been overactive with ideas I want to accomplish when it warms up and I can hit the ground running. First off, my little flowerhouse greenhouse ripped up and blew apart from the wind and rain and the dry rot that had ensued over the past year due to FL rain and sun, I suspect the big bad wolf helped with huffing and puffing on that one too (LOL). And of course, when I came up with the idea of taking the legs off the tables I had my EBs and GPs on and went to stack them on the picnic table, the table came crashing down, nothing was hurt but the table. My idea? I'm taking apart the picnic table and using the scrap wood to make an above ground bed with and the metal frame from green house will become my hoops for it; but instead of curved hoops it will be pointed hoops for me to put either light fabric or heavy warm fabric over for my plants protection.
The legs off the tables are going to be make into a very long thing that will hold my buckets in place and then I will hammer long thing stakes ever so often and tie twine to it once my maters are in the bucket. I will place the buckets about 2 ft apart from each other in 3-4 straight lines, each line will have about 3 ft between them to make room for walking down in between and for the self watering drip system coming later on.
Here is my idea on the self watering drip system: I'm going to get a 4 mainifold, get some hose that I can make any length I want using female and male couplings with, and using T's. I will first hook up the timer, then the manifold, then 4 T's, 4 hoses, then 4 more T's , 16 hoses and then will proceed to hook up the 1/2" poly tubing and the itsy bitsy poly tubing will be placed into the 1/2" tubing at one end and the other end will go into my EBs, GPs, 5 gallon buckets and totes, hopefully leaving me one or two spare hoses for hooking up a soaker hose to later on for my above ground garden.
My projected dates of getting all this done done is as follows: I plan to have the wooden stuff for the buckets and staking system done first. Hopefully, by the end of February when my new greenhouse will be done also. The sprinkler system some time around the end of April and the new above ground bed shortly after.
My greenhouse is also made from recycling stuff. My handyman/carpenter friend's dad, had these 9 sheets of green fiberglass lying around in his property and he gave them to his son, I have a glass door I removed from the house, for fear it would break and hurt one of my grandchildren or nephews and neices, it will be the door of the greenhouse reinforced of course, and then all that is left to buy is the wood and the clear fiberglass for the roof and then vents put into the thing.
What I intend on growing this Spring Summer is this: about 50 tomatoes, 16 pepper plants, 4 eggplants, okra and corn. The last two will go into my totes, the rest will go into the 30 five gallon buckets, 10 EBs and 6 GPs and 2 square footers.
All will be hooked up to a sprinkler system on a timer or better yet drip system, so, I can spend more time picking off the bugs and picking the fruits off the vines.

My contribution to the recycling thing.
Great plan!
Wow, sounds great. Amazing what a little crazy weather can inspire.
I've been snow bound for 3 days now and have been scrounging around the house for parts for my SWC's. By the way, what are GP's?
GP's are "a garden patch" boxes similar to EBs. It was warm for just a bit yesterday, and then it poured down rain and is supposed to drop down to 28 tonight. I did get all 35 five gallon buckets washed and sanitized and brought them inside for the time being. Will seed start about 50 tomatoes on the 12th.
