Golden-fronted Woodpecker

I learned a new bird! It's visiting my bird feeder...just started doing that feeder last summer because of the drought. How could I NOT feed birds when they had nothing to eat? So today a flock of doves were here and the competition for my single feeder was getting pretty intense. Then I saw this gorgeous woodpecker that kept coming back over and over. Actually, I think it might be two of them. Yay! Now if I could just get it to pose for a picture!

Well, it took me a while! With my camera, it's not easy...these fly away if I'm out there. So not very clear pics, but it'll do, I guess.

They are more likely to come by if it's warm, like today! Feels like spring!

Congratulations it must be so exciting for you! They are beautiful and I hope we'll be seeing more of your photos of them. My book says they're only seen in a small part of Texas so you've got a real keeper there.
