Ok, then, is this that powdery mildew I heard about but never had before? And what was it you do to get rid of it? HELP!!!!!!!!! ChuLin
What's this?
Looks like it to me. Lord, I have been fighting it all winter. mrs.bonnie was kind enough to share a recipe of 1 part milk to 9 parts water to spray on the leaves. It works. I have had to apply it more than once on a couple of mine. If you don't catch it quick, it will spread to other plants and that is what has happened in my case. I am also having a hard time right now of maintaining a set temp. in my room so that is not helping matters. Can't wait till spring. This is the first year I have ever gotten it and it seems that a lot of people have gotten it this year so don't feel lonely. I was also told by Lynn and a few others that it will help if you lightly spray Lysol above the plant to give it a light mist.
Now, lets see what the others say and maybe we will get this one under control.

i also use funicide#3 works good too.i think everyone gets it at some time.

I think so too.Lysol and the milk formula work.I think Nichole has mentioned dusting with cinnamon ??
In the old days we used powdered sulfur and then set little saucers of sulfur around to gently blow on to disperse it.It isn't fragrant, but it works.Turning a fan on in the room a few hours a day helps also.Just don't point it directly at the plants.
I have heard that spraying with cinnamon oil helps with powdery mildew . . . but even though I bought the cinnamon oil, I have yet to use it (I should mention, that there is a difference between cinnamon leaf and cinnamon bark oil). What I use now - and I have had an issue with powdery mildew in the past weeks too - I put 1 tsp of physan 20 per gallon of water. I use that to water, as well as misting the plants. It does work, really!
i also use physan 20 also to prevent algee in my self watering containers,it does not seem to eliminate powderery mildew for me so i use funcidie 3

I've been using Lysol with good results. Will try watering with the Physan 20, too.
