Batflower!!! I'm so stinking proud of you. What two beauties, both babies are so adorable. It could not have happened to a nicer lady. Two thumbs up for you. Hay

thanks everyone, what a hectic week we've had on our farm! First, a mink attack, then, a mysterious death and now our first birth.... Here is a close up of our little tiny chick peeking out from under his feather duster Mama. (and thanks to who ever posted that tip. This little one was sooo agitated and the feather duster calmed him right down )

can I give a baby chick treats? and if so, what can I give him safely?

Richmond, TX

Our chicks like hard boiled egg yolk and lettuce scraps.

Put your crumbles in a blender to break it down even smaller and all the needs are there, plus the goodies you provide. Breaking it down is crucial for the baby.

I put my Seramas' chick starter in the blender, but not the standard chicks. They seem to do fine. Egg yolks are great for chicks! Yogurt too. And you can sprinkle in parsley flakes or very tender new grass/chopped up parsley/cilantro etc. Just make sure they are not contaminated with any toxins (pesticides. herbicides, etc.)

I usually wait a few days before adding treats. I try to make sure all the chicks are eating the starter well before I add anything.

oh, he's a little pig when it comes to the starter, I can't believe how much of it he's eaten!! He's eating and drinking well. and I didn't put anything threw the blender
