At first I thought I was photographing a pine warbler but after looking at the dark black and white markings I'm not so sure. So what could this be in Raleigh, NC?
CLOSED: need ID
Hi Plant, It's an American Goldfinch.
Oh wait. Now I see it. That's a female isn't it?
Or a first winter male.
Oh, okay. I didn't realize it was so complicated. Thanks for your help!
Look at the bills - thick on goldfinches, thin on warblers.

Must you know everything Resin? I have a feeling you could tell me about car repair, baking the perfect souffle and the behavior of subatomic particles as well :)
I should have noticed the bills to begin with. I'm usually more careful than that...
car repair - nope, not a chance!
baking the perfect souffle - no way!
behaviour of subatomic particles - hmmm, possibly just a tiny little bit . .
