is anybody having trouble with little fly bug.coming out of there house plant?tell me how i can kill them.
help
They are called fungus gnats and they are hard to get rid of. One thing is that they are attracted to wet soil so if you can keep your plants on the dry side and water them from the bottom that will help. Also fly traps work. Good luck. Tina
Tina is right. Over-watering and organic fertilizers (like using various 'meals' - blood, bone, cottonseed, and fish/seaweed emulsions) are things favoring larger populations of FGs. Waiting to water until the soil feels dry at the drain hole is very helpful. Also, mosquito dunks in your watering can are effective on larvae making the soil home.
Watering from the bottom can contribute to a build-up of soluble salts in the soil, which can be very stressful for plants, so be careful if you take that tack and flush the soil often.
