Hello all,
This is going to be my second year of strawbale gardening and it seems like the more I read about the subject the more questions I have. Last year I had excellent results with eggplants and peppers in strawbales. I used the 10 day water/ammonia/fertilizer treatment to get the bales ready. That being said, I'd like to see what tomato specific tips anybody has.
Does anybody add other treatments to their bales?
Thanks in advance for any info,
Carey

Carey, all I've even used to season the bales is bloodmeal. I used some fish emulsion on the tomatoes last year, but can't say if it did any good or not, it was generally a crummy year. The previous year i used nothing extra, but had a great harvest.
I too used blood meal last year to prep the bales, it worked great.
I think this year I'm going to wrap the bales in landscape fabric to cut down on the grass that grows. I'll just cut an X in it where I put the plants.
Paul
