My Carolina jasmine is starting to show buds and so is my plum tree. Maples have buds and my Narcissus have grown about 3 inches in the last couple of days.
Guess that's it for winter. LOL.
Here comes spring
I wish .. still predicting lower than normal and wetter than normal weather for February .. I was looking at the trees today and I thought the branch tips looked a bit fatter than usual. This definitely is going to be an interesting spring .. I predict rethinks of a lot of stuff and relentless trading to replace what I've lost. I've gritted my teeth and turned the greenhouse heater up to 48 - can't afford to lost anything else - I'll need what has survived for trading after I coax the plants into decent shape.

Oak leaf hydrangea are showing growth at the tips and my carolina jasmine has had buds for about 2 weeks now.
Luckily February is a short month, because I bet you're right X, it's gonna be a wet, cold one.... Blech

We have winter jasmine blooming today.
I guess I'll have to go and check my jasmine now... hehe. Anyone else starting any seeds yet? I received some butterfly weed, datura and conferderate rose seeds in the mail from a member here, put some of the butterfly ones in the fridge to see how long for germ rate. Took 7 days so I've got my start already I guess.
My yard looks like a darn bog though with all this rain.

Just noticed the trees are definitely getting fuzzier on the skyline. I'm wondering how long El Nino is going to keep drowning us.
I've got some lisianthus coming up and am planning to start the petunia, geraniums, aristolochia and passiflora within the next week.

Have I started seeds???!
Let's see:
Being cold conditioned - Giant Coneflower, cardinal flower, columbine, jack-in-the-pulpit, Bush's coneflower
Started: N. england aster, Brandywine tomato, black cumin, musk mallow, stokes aster, sweet indian plantain, dutchman's pipe, turnips, spinach, radishes, siberian iris, babtista, flameflower, scarlet chard, candy lily, cilantro, parsley, leeks, red Mexican bird of paradise, red-hot poker.
That enough for ya??! Now I just have to see how many come up. I do this every year, start some seeds too early, but I just can't resist!

That's the beauty of having a green house.... I only wish. Lol
I just noticed my Hyacinths are up and have bloom stalks - should open today or tomorrow. The Pecan tree is budding, the lilys are up, the Cannas are putting on new leaves, the Elephant Ears are coming back - I guess I have lots of signs of spring happening - they didn't appear to be there a couple of days ago.
I think this weekend I'll start germinating. I don't really have that many this year.
Mike, a greenhouse is a good thing. Oh course, if the heat worked, it would be even better!

The Vinca minor I have under two magnolias is blooming. Yes, I know it's invasive, but it's hemmed in by a sidewalk so I can snip it easily when it threatens the cement. I miss the cheery Alyssum that was blooming earlier, but I neglected to deadhead the plants so they didn't rebloom.
Gardening is so perfect for inflicting guilt!
