Quick question.

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

I know I knew this but have forgotten. I am going to start putting some of the best eggs back to put in the bator. I know to keep them in the dark. Do I put them round side or point side down in the carton before I put them in the bator. How about in the bator? I don't have a turner in my bator. I put the eggs in a carton and prop it on a 45 angle. then 3 times a day or more I prop them to the opposite side. Thanks for the help.

Large end up. It is the way an egg naturally orients when it is flat on a surface and it keeps the air cell at the top.

Have fun!

Thanks!

Cajun if you put the eggs in the carton to hatch, do you cut a hole in the bottom of the carton? Hay

No. I take them out of the carton on day 18 cause that is when I quit turning them. I just lay them on their sides on the bottom of the bator.

The reason I asked was, I was concerned that the carton would hamper air flow around the bottom of the egg and therefore affect the overall heat flow. Hay

I don't know if it did or not. I may cut a whole in the bottoms this time and see if it makes a difference. thanks for the tip.
