Fayette, MO(Zone 6a)

Boy, am I glad it's Friday! I've got me a new bottle calf and finally got her to take a bottle last night. It has been a real struggle. Thought I would have to tube her. I have her in with my very gentle heifer and they are sort of surrogate mom and baby. When I try to catch her she runs behind my big heifer and hides. She is spunky and tries to kick me and everything else. Last night when she finally latched onto that bottle she decided for a few seconds I wasn't so bad and then she was wild as a deer again. Hope she changes her attitude towards me.
Was working with my baby calf when I heard some hammering at the machine shop. The guy that leases my bottomland for corn and soy beans was getting the combine ready for business. He has been cleaning out the bin from last years crop of beans so the auger is in place. The corn is already dry enough to start on. I just don't think the beans could possibly be ready yet. They were planted so late.
We will be have a Fall Festival in my little town this weekend.. Should be fun.
