Waiting for end of February

Crestview, FL

Well, I'm at a standstill on my gardening until the end of February of which at that time I can plant my tomato seeds, my fall/winter garden has suffered a bit from the 10-30 degree weather, lost my greenhouse; but have a much better one in the works now. My onions are doing good; but only have a few cabbages that made it, my dwarf pomegrante bit the dust, I only have a few beets and my strawberries are doing so-so. Does anyone have any okra seed they can spare? I have everything else except the okra.

My tomatos and peppers are up and running. I just transplanted the tomatoe seedlings for the first time yesterday. Buriied the stem. Now hopefully they will work on some good roots.

My brocolli is making nice heads, It made it thru the freeze, but I did bring the EB in the garage.

My strawberries are starting to but out lots of new leaves, so Im hoping the roots have been happy even tho the leaves have been hybernating.
No okra seed yet, I wont plant it till after I pull out the tomatoes, or in april/may, which ever comes first. Its happiest in July and august, along with the peas and peppers.

Garden Glory: I was so happy to see my cauliflower put out before the freeze, my cauliflower and broccoli are both done and over with, only one head of cabbage has made it through this cold weather here, my strawberries are hanging on along with my onions and I only have a few beet plants left. I will plant my corn and okra last this Spring/Summer as they are fussy about the warm soil.

Glory,
My tomato and bell seedlings are up, too! I Winter Sowed the tomatoes January 3rd and 16th in one-gallon milk jugs, and put them outside. Most all of the jugs (20-25?) have at least 4-5 seedlings up in each one. I'm waiting for them to get a set of true leaves before I up pot to 16 oz red Solo cups. I'm gonna deep root them too, sinking them up to their leaves and adding soil as they grow up.

I WSowed the bells in jugs, too, but kept them outside cause of the frost. They're almost 2" tall and about to put out their first set of true leaves. I'm gonna put them out sometime in March when the weather starts warming up. Otherwise, they'll just sit and sulk if it's too cold for them.

Keep me posted on your progress, will yah?

JOY:
I have okra seeds to spare. I'll check on the variety and let you know what they are.

Gymgirl: Thank you so much, that is very kind of you; I did go on line and order some from Burpees, I wanted their huge tomato book, so decided I might as well buy the seeds from them. I bought two varieties of okra seeds. Looking forward to the 19th of this month to plant my maters!!!!
