Hey it's me in Honduras. Okay, I have this one and one with a beige chest, is that the difference - female/male. They are together constantly chasing after each other?
Oh, and what kind please, can anyone help.
CLOSED: Hummingbird in Honduras
Can't wait to hear what others say. I was wondering if it was an Emerald Hummingbird.
In my field guide it matches a Broad-billed Hummingbird, not a confirmation though. Broad-billed has white under-tail coverts.
Edited for under-tail coverts.

Only 328 species to search through in Handbook of the Birds of the World . . . ;-)
Red bill except for the black tip will narrow things down a lot, as will the deeply forked tail.
Got it: Blue-tailed Emerald Chlorostilbon mellisugus. The subspecies found in Honduras is C. m. osberti (mentioning this as if you're looking for pics to compare, some of the other subspecies don't have red on the bill).

Edit: forgot to add, female Blue-tailed Emeralds have a white chest, so a bird with a beige chest is something different. Needs a photo!

I need a handbook like that. Do they make one that has all the world's birds with illustrations? (any suggestions?)
Yes, but it isn't cheap! http://www.lynxeds.com/catalog/hbw
Very, very good though.

Wow! For now I'll just google, some hefty prices there.
