Will plumie bud open next spring?

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

Last Dec when I brought my plumies into the garage for the winter, I noticed two lovely inflos on Paula's Pink. I keep watching and they look great, totally unaffected by cold. Well, garage is at 40 deg. or warmer. So...I'm wondering if it's possible that they will open up in April or so. what do you think?

Most inflos will make it through the winter if protected from cold, so I think you have a good chance.

With the recent cold spell, most of my inflos-in-waiting have aborted. It'll be a long wait for blooms this year.....

I'd say that is a fifty-fifty.

Here is a photo of my very first inflo. This plant was grown from seed quite a few years ago, and from what I remember it was called Plumeria Rubra.

Also I have heard that the first time anyone gets inflo, they can't get too excited since there is a possibility that flowers won't form. I may be wrong though!

That's a good looking plant Barry. I hope the flowers will work out this time. Give it as much sunshine as you can.

Thank you Dutchlady~!! I was a little worried the other day when I rearranged my living room growing area. My Plumie was in a different location, not recieving as much sunlight as it was before. So I moved it since it looked as though the Inflo had changed colors to a more yellowish shade. So from my judgement, I assumed that it needed more sunlight. Thank you so much for telling me to give it as much sunlight as I should. Otherwise I assume that the inflo might not make it.

THANKS AGAIN

Hey Hetty, so what should one do with my inflows from Nov/Dec if I think they won't bloom? Would they just die away?

If they're not going to bloom they will fall off by themselves.

All depending on the weather and the time of year. I have plumeria opening here in a matter of ten days or so now that we have out high eighties and humid weather. Do not discount the number of daylight hours either - now going on for 14 hours here. Makes all the difference.

Looking forward to see those blooms!

normally it's like 4-6 weeks.
