She identified it as Anthurium clarinervium. I have a plant that looks like it identified as Anthurium clarinervium, too. LariAnn said it is misidentified and is actually A. crystallinum. Well I have crystallinum on the plant on the left and clarinervium on the plant on the right. I don't know if they are labeled correctly, and if not, please help me figure out who is who. Thank you.
Do I have these labeled correctly?
It does look like Anthurium clarinervium on the right.
The left plant does not look like the Anthurium crystallinum in my references.
Hi Dave!!! Thank you, at least part is right. Do you have any ideas who the one on the left is then? Or maybe just a hybrid?
Hi Dawn, I have to make a correction here concerning the link you provided concerning my Anthurium clarinervium. The plant in question concerning the post's between LariAnn and I had to do with a picture of a "Anthurium" plant that was posted from the VIII Annual Aroid Show and Sale at Fairchild.
Concerning your Anthurium on the "left" side of your picture, I am not sure but as time goes along it may become more obvious.
Hi rachel, I was researching the velvety leaved anthuriums, and I like them all. I'll be happy with whichever this plant turns out to be. I want to keep track of what I'm growing, though :). Once it took me 3 days to find a plant. That's just wrong, lol.
Not sure what the plant on the right is, but it looks similar to A. clarinervium, a hybrid is certainly a possibility.
The one on the right certainly looks like A. clarinervium to me, too; there is a good deal of natural variation amongst seedlings of that plant, as well as the possibility of hybrids. However, many of the commercially available specimens are grown from tissue cultured plantlets, not seeds. To add to the mix, this species is known to produce seeds apomictically (i.e. without pollination). I have seen variation in seed-grown specimens, but the TC ones are pretty uniform, even if the particular plant chosen for TC is not completely representative of the species.
It gets pretty confusing, as every leaf can be different. Agri-starts has a Crystal anthurium that could be what my plant on the left is, maybe a crystallinum hybrid? So is the clarinervium pictured representative of the species, or not really? I was trying to research at exotic rainforest, as they have good pics, but it only left me wanting more plants instead of figuring out the ones I have :).
