Need suggestions - 3' max height, full sun, drought tolerant

Enid, OK

I need help deciding what to plant in the container at the end of my driveway.
I need something with fairly shallow roots, takes full Oklahoma sun, 3 feet tall or less so you can still see to back out and drought tolerant just cause I probably won't water more than every other day; every day when it is scorching hot.

I thought about daylilies but already have those by mail box and this container is only two feet away from them. I would like to have something interesting - out of the ordinary there but what?????
HEPL ME PLEASE

Thank you!

Hi, I have Sedum in a container near my DL.
I have Autumn Joy that is between 2' or 3' tall. There is Brillant and Cloud Walker about that tall also.

Sedum takes full sun and needs little water.

Are you looking for blooms?

I really don't know if I want blooms or not - maybe. I just want something different that would draw interest. Not that we live on a busy street - I think we have five neighbors - I just want something "outstanding".

I had thought about doing a succulent collection but talked myself out of putting it there - I have another spot in mind for those.

I'm not sure what kind of container you have, but ornamental grasses http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&rlz=1T4RNWI_enUS315US315&num=100&q=ornamental%20grasses&aql=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi are usually drought tolerant and rather easy to care for. There are dozens of species and many varieties within species to choose from. Pines and junipers also come in widely varied growth habits & tolerate dry conditions well .....
